Icefilms.info has had problems with their hosting for the last few weeks.
First their host shut them down for reasons that i dont know so they had to find a new host. they did find a new host a few days after but it was slow and sometimes down. now the site is down again, accessing icefilms.info gives some "Web Server's Default Page" instead of the site.
possibly because theyre in the process of setting up the site on a new server. i hope thats what it is and that the new server will also be faster than the last one. we will see..
note that most of the time when the main site of icefilms is down, you can still access their forum at: http://forum.icefilms.info/ the forum is defenetly on a separate server.
well its been having lots of technical issues lately i guess theyre still setting up things over there but for most of the last days i been able to reach the site almost everyday. now just today it didnt work from my comp but i could reach the site through a proxy.
i was wondering if i was blocked (would have been weird cos i dont use the site so often since i have mine). but no it turns out that i found out that my computer did not resolve icefilms.info to the same ip address than the proxy did.
so that means that they must have changed servers again these last few days or at least just their ip, but the most logical reason for having to change your ip is cos youre changing your server cos otherwise changing IP is something you try to avoid cos it takes up to 3 days for the DNS record to update around the world.
so yea looks like they just hopped on a new server again and it was not working for me from home cos looks like my home internet connection's DNS was slow to get that update for the icefilms.info record. but i could reach it through a proxy.
but now (only later in the same day) it suddenly works from home.
So now icefilms is working for me from home but i frequently get an error page instead of the site, sometimes i need to reload the pages a few times before they work, i think something somewhere in their setup isnt fit to support all the traffic they got coming to their site.
Yes, for my part i have noticed like the Californian said, that icefilms seems to be having some "intermittent lag" at least for the last 3 days.
It sounds like the person from Toronto is getting a different problem. that almost sounds like icefilms may be blocked for this person at the ISP level. this person should try to access icefilms through a proxy like hidemyass.com to see what happens. what is the error that youre getting by the way?
But for the rest of us, yes it seems like something is going on with the icefilm server causing massive lag and occasional time outs. actually that was for the last few days, today (sunday) it seems laggier than ever, its hard to just get the homepage.
by the way i notice that while the main site of icefilms.info is lagging, the forum does not seem to lag at all: http://forum.icefilms.info/ it appears to be hosted on a different server.
I am in Ottawa, Ontario and my ISP is Rogers. Can't access the site at all as of the last two days. I have had many problems with icefilms over the course of the two years I have been using it. This current problem everyone is experiencing. The other problem seemed to be a megaupload and/or my software/hardware/internet. Hope things get fixed. If Icefilms was problem free it would take over anyother site on the net, in my opinion.
for me it never was completely unreachable its just that for a few days around the 12jun2011 its been timing out a certain % of the time with more time outs on peak times. though i must say for the last 2 days (ever since monday) the server has been ok for me, i didnt have the problem again since monday... icefilms is now working fine for me.
